Mijita 'Zenith' Vineyard Pinot Gris (skin-contact)
Winemaker Lizzy Esqueda is making bright, textural wines from grapes that are organically and sustainably farmed in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Lizzy discovered her love for wine while working in restaurants in New York City, and realized she was more interested in making wine and cellar work when she started a job at Brooklyn Winery. She dove in and has worked with several wineries in Oregon (and in Australia) before making wine under her own label. “Mijita” is a version of a nickname the women in Esqueda’s family called her when she was growing up.
Her fantastic skin-contact Pinot Gris from Zenith Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills is as tasty as it is gorgeous. It’s what we want to drink this time of year—it’s got one foot in winter with its strong structure and one foot in summer with delightful floral and fruity notes.
